Description

The clients are a family of 3 who became 4. 

Their brief was to create a bespoke home to suit their individual requirements.  

The existing house was single storey brick freestanding California Bungalow style, with a detached Garage. Previous alterations had removed much of the original detail of the house. 

Whilst the owners originally wanted to retain the original features of the house, over time new preferred layouts took precedence and the house became a modern style. A second storey was added with bedrooms for all the family, and alterations were made to the Ground floor including guest rooms.  A double carport with a green roof is a feature to the front of the house from the street. A first floor deck allows views to both Manly Beach to the east, and Manly Cove ferries to the west. At the rear, a swimming pool, deck, BBQ and other features added. 

The project includes high tech features such as Home Automation throughout. The roof is designed to be full of solar panels with allowance for battery storage. The house is fully air conditioned with two automated fireplaces, an automated pool cover and large rainwater storage tanks below the Carport. 

The conceptual approach was to provide a high end house with state of the art technology.
